The Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding traces its origins to 1936, when, at the Animal Breeding Institute of the Lviv Academy of Veterinary Medicine under Professor and Doctor Tadey Olbricht, lectures in zootechnical disciplines were first introduced.
The Department offers the following courses: Genetics with Biometry, Animal Genetics, Veterinary Genetics, Genetics and Animal Breeding, Breeding of Farm Animals, Animal Breeding, Fundamentals of Professional Activity, Ornamental Animal Husbandry, Animal Genetic Resources, Fundamentals of Animal Science, Breeds and Selection of Cats, Breeds and Selection of Dogs, Reproductive Features of Wild and Domestic Animals, and Cynology.

Based on these research activities, the Department’s faculty have published 4 monographs, over 20 teaching manuals, and approximately 350 scientific articles in specialized journals.
