The Department of General Technical Disciplines was established in 1994 to consolidate into a single cycle the engineering and technical courses taught to students of the Sanitary-Technological Faculty (now the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology).
Currently, the Department provides educational services to students in the following programs: 181 “Food Technology,” 162 “Biotechnology and Bioengineering,” and 226 “Pharmacy. Industrial Pharmacy” at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.
The primary goal of the Department is to provide students with a strong foundation and to develop their understanding of fundamental physical and technical principles, preparing them for the study of specialized disciplines, including technological equipment and various technological courses. To this end, the Department offers and teaches courses such as: Engineering and Computer Graphics; Fundamentals of Automated Design; Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources; Theoretical and Applied Mechanics; Materials Science; Thermodynamics; Heat and Cold Engineering; Electrical Engineering and Fundamentals of Electromechanics; Electrical Engineering with Basics of Electronics; Processes and Equipment of Food Production; Processes and Equipment of Biotechnological Production; Processes and Equipment of Pharmaceutical Production; Automation of Production Processes; Robotics in Production Processes; Microprocessor Control Systems for Technological Processes; Modern Methods of Energy Supply for Industrial Enterprises; Energy-Saving Technologies in Biotechnology; Fundamentals of Sensory Analysis of Food Products; Technological Foundations of Production; Psychology of Engineering Activity; Principles of Energy Management and Energy Efficiency; Qualimetrics; and several other specialized disciplines.
