Head of Department: Associate Professor, Candidate of Biological Sciences (PhD) Myroslava Romanivna Hrytsyna

In 2018, pursuant to a resolution of the Academic Council and the Rector’s order, one of the youngest departments was established within the Faculty of Veterinary Hygiene, Ecology, and Law. The foundation of this department was both logical and consistent, as its research focus was closely connected with the study of medicinal plants and later developed into applied research.

Currently, the department is headed by Associate Professor, Candidate of Biological Sciences (PhD) Myroslava Romanivna Hrytsyna, an experienced educator, author and co-author of more than 150 scientific and educational-methodological publications. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Biology at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, majoring in Biology, and subsequently pursued her postgraduate studies at the Department of Biology of Stepan Gzhytskyi Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnologies. Since 1999, she has served as Assistant, Senior Lecturer, and later Associate Professor at the Department of Ecology and Biology.

The department is responsible for the professional training of Master’s students in specialty 226 Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy, providing graduates with a solid academic education in both fundamental and applied sciences, along with practical training aimed at developing general and specialized competencies for professional activity in the pharmaceutical sector.

The department’s mission is to ensure a high level of student knowledge for the provision of pharmaceutical care, the safe and rational use of medicines, monitoring the effectiveness of pharmacotherapy and/or adverse drug reactions, and readiness to assume (or share) responsibility for the outcomes of pharmacotherapy. This includes all stages of drug development, storage, quality control, delivery, distribution, promotion, regulation, provision of medicines and other pharmaceutical goods in line with modern international standards, as well as the provision of pharmaceutical care grounded in pharmaceutical ethics and deontology. Furthermore, the department prepares specialists for roles in the industrial production of medicines.
