Acting Head of Department: Nadiia Mykolaivna Voitovych, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor

The origins of the department date back to 1940. The first head of the department was L.T. Koshko (1940–1952). Throughout its history, the department was led by Prof. Ye.M. Halushko (1952–1969), Assoc. Prof. P.Yu. Burak (1970–1975), Prof. Y.D. Chernysh (1976–1979), Assoc. Prof. R.T. Kovalyuk (1979–1988), Prof. M.V. Bryk (1988–2010), Assoc. Prof. O.Ya. Hrymak (2010–2016), and Assoc. Prof. L.P. Kushnir (2016–2023).

Following the licensing of the “Tourism” specialty in 2018, the Department of Ukrainian History and Economic Theory was renamed the Department of Ukrainian History, Economic Theory, and Tourism. Later, a reorganization was carried out, based on which (according to the University Academic Council decision of March 30, 2023, and the Order of July 12, 2023) two departments were established, including the Department of Ukrainian History and Economic Theory. Since September 2023, the acting head of the department has been Nadiia Voitovych, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor.
